Article

this is the main feature article. it was done by taking three seperate pictures of kate (the model) and then layed them on top of eachother. the main picure of a feature article, in whatever magazine is always eyecatching as it's aim is to entise you to read more. after I merged all the layers together, I decided to blur the grass in the background so kate stood out more than the grass.

this is the article in full, it is common for an article to feature a quote from the featured artist, which is exacttly the convention I have chosen to follow. I encountered a problem that my main feaure photo wasn't A4 size, so this meant  I had to break away from conventions for the layout as I have chosen to position it above the quote, to fill the left hand page. this meant writing is amble to fill the right hand page.

contents page

This is my contents page, it has clear resemblence to my Style model (below). I felt the layout of the style model was effective, so I chose to replicate this. I have used the Twitter and Facebook logos as most magazine's nowadays have their own pages on these sites, and therefore this adds to the authenticity of the page.
The two main images used are ones I took at Leeds Festival 2011. I felt that in running a competition of this kind it would encourage reader interacton with the magazine, as well as acting as promotional material.

Magazine cover

This is the finished cover for the magazine. previously it only had a main model, the main story and headmast. from this I have added a website, a barcode (with issue number and prive below it) and other articles which feature in the magazine. I liked the "handwritten" style font on my style model however I didn't want to overuse this feature, so instead I decided to simply feature it on the "of kate Ayers" text. NME magazine (style model) typically has a very plain background, little text and a very striking cover image, and it is this convention I have tried to capture with my cover, I have broke the NME conventions though as I have chosen to use multiple fonts as I felt it would appear uninteresting anongst other magazines on the shelf if it had plain fonts.
